Emmanuel Alt is staging what appears to be a one-woman George Michael comeback campaign.
First, there was that time she redesigned the Vogue Paris website and celebrated with a "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" lipdub. Now, she has put singer on cover of the October issue of French Vogue. Though it looks more like something Vanity Fair might run, it is actually a Mario Testino-lensed photo of Michel with friend and neighbor Kate Moss.
So, why George Michael? Why now? "George Michael is an idol," Alt writes in her editor's letter. "From the happy-go-lucky days of Wham! to the steamy Faith-era leather bomber, and supermodel-packed video for Freedom, the British pop star's irresistible velvet tones make him something of a phoenix, able to transcend trends like no other."
Er, debatable, but the cover does give everyone an excuse to rewatch that lipdub video.
