Derek Lam is following Narciso Rodriguez as the second American designer announced for Kohl's DesigNation program. For the travel-themed capsule, Lam voyaged to Rio de Janiero to find inspiration, telling WWD: "I imagined a woman from Rio going to the beach in the morning, meeting friends for lunch and having drinks at the end of the day—with maybe a little work in between." Which sounds lovely, if a far cry from the lifestyle of the average Kohl's customer.

At any rate, the collection will retail for between $36 and $98 and will feature plenty of spring-friendly wares, including dresses, skirts, capris, shorts, tank tops, and (a first for Lam) swimwear. Mark your calendars for April, when the collection will be released in Kohl's stores and on their website, and in the meantime, get ready for Rodriguez's capsule to drop on November 7.
