Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In a new series, we're brushing up on our fashion diction with a little help from our friends. Today, we get a lesson in Costello Tagliapietra.

After meeting at New York's Sound Factory 18 years ago and being too shy to speak to each other, Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra ultimately got together—and lovers of elegantly draped dresses everywhere are so glad they did. The pair debuted their first collection to rave reviews in 2005, and subsequently racked up the 2005 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award and two consecutive bids as a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist nods in 2005 and 2006. Earlier this year, they expanded the brand with the launch of a lower-priced diffusion line named C&T, and pretty much every year they win the unofficial "Most Adorable Couple in Fashion" award. After the jump, CFDA CEO Steven Kolb teaches us all how to say their names.
