Just one season after Stefano Pilati made his untimely exit from Yves Saint Laurent in the wake of much rumormongering and bad press, Milan's Ermenegildo Zegna and its womenswear counterpart Zegna Agnona have hired him as the head of design and creative director, respectively. Got to love a full circle.
Executive officer Gildo Zegna gave WWD the requisite quote: "With this appointment, we will be able to combine our tradition in tailoring and our leadership in innovative materials with a new vision for men's fashion." For his part, Pilati is attracted to the "savoir-faire with elite fabrics like alpaca and vicuna, and its manufacturing prowess."
Pilati will officially start the new gig on January 1, and his first (presumably alpaca-heavy) collection will debut the following June.
