Oscar Noms

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Oscar nominations are out, and our bets hopes are on the little one for the Actress in a Leading Role Category: At nine, Quvenzhané Wallis from Beasts of the Southern Wild is the youngest person to ever be nominated for an Oscar. Or the oldest, French actress Emmanuelle Riva, at 85. Actually we'd be pretty okay with Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, or Naomi Watts, too. What can we say? It was a good year for leading ladies. [Oscar.go.com]
