Miu Miu's Ads Boast More Than One Victoria's Secret Model

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

For its Spring 2013, Miu Miu created a voyeuristic vision of female life in which the models are "femme fatale vs. innocent ingénues," "playful belles vs. nostalgic beauties," and everyone who sees the ads are Peeping Toms, looking "through doors and windows [...] in which we encounter a new kind of elegance in this seductive celebration of contemporary femininity," according to the press release.

Modeling this contemporary femininity are Victoria's Secret models Doutzen Kroes and Adriana Lima along with Arizona Muse, Malgosia Bela, Bette Franke, Martha Hunt, and Tamara Weijenberg, and they are "in a mysterious domestic setting." So for all we know the ad's world is an extremely chic sorority or a brothel, which in some states is one in the same. Miu Miu, always keeping us guessing.
