Designer Birthdays

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Rachel Roy is turning 39 and for her birthday she wants water. A lot of water. Specifically, she's asking you to donate to her Charity: Water Campaign, which provides clean agua to rural areas in need. And as for what she's going to wear on her big day, "I like the idea of the birthday individual standing out and looking a year wiser and a year more lived and hopefully because of that, smarter. But I don't like for the person to look too excited, or overtly giddy." For the record, jumpsuits are her go-to. [Stylelist]
