The debate around Hedi Slimane's controversial decision to remove the "Yves" from the "Yves Saint Laurent" ready-to-wear label died down to a mild simmer over the past few months. But now that the revamped brand is making its debut in stores, people's passions seem to have been reawakened.
Case in point: Berdorf Goodman posted the above picture of a new Saint Laurent arrival in their Instagram, and incited a veritable comment shitshow. Responses range from passionately negative ("Unlike! saint lauren will always be Yves.. whoever the designer of this brand is, screaming insecure..") to measured and rational ("As long as the name change doesn't reflect the quality and artistry of ysl or sl, then I don't care") to flat-out embracing ("errrthangg"). And there are nearly 200 more where that came from. Head here to read them and/or weight in with your own thoughts on the issue.
