Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The bloom is off the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target rose. A month after the collaboration debuted to a frenzy of shoppers, it's already 30 to 50% off in stores across the country.
Racked called Targets across the country and found that each had moved their Phillip Lim items to the clearance rack. At the Aventura location in South Florida, "stuff people didn't want" was marked 50% off, according to an associate in womenswear. At the Boston South Bay store, a sales associate found "some shirts and some dresses" on the racks for 30% off. It was the same story—a few items at 30% off—at the Glendale, Colorado location; the Fargo, North Dakota store and the Lawrence SuperTarget in Kansas.
Meanwhile, Target has yet to reduce prices online. Click over to target.com and you'll find plenty of merchandise for both women and men including highly-coveted items like the Boom sweatshirt and the spotted sweater. The bags, of course, are long gone.
