The holiday collaboration between Shawn Carter, a.k.a. Jay Z, Barneys and a number of high end designers will move forward as planned and land in the department store November 20, according to CEO Mark Lee. Fresh out of a press conference at the National Action Network headquarters in Harlem, Lee reiterated that no Barneys employees were involved in the profiling cases. He also apologized to Jay, saying:
Our collaboration is based on a shared mission of helping individuals facing socioeconomic hardships to help further their education at institutions of higher learning. We regret that these recent events have distracted from the great work of the Shawn Carter Foundation, and we offer our apologies to Mr. Carter.Jay Z has not spoken out in addition to his statement published on Life + Times last weekend, but the petition for the hip hop artist to break ties with Barneys has reached 24k.
