Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

That long-rumored Instagram ad appeared this morning on select users' feeds. It was the above photo from Michael Kors of his new watch, which was captioned, "5:15 PM: Pampered in Paris #MKTimeless." So far, it has 87.8k likes and more than 700 comments.

From this example, it seems that if you're already following Michael Kors (or one of the other brands, like Burberry), you will simply see the ad as a normal Instagram photo. If you are not following participating brands, the image will show up in your feed and will be marked as "sponsored." Well, is it as beautiful as you had hoped?
