Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Will Nasty Gal shoppers pay upwards of $2,000 for Chanel? The site, best known for its cheap, ultra-trendy clothes and accessories, is betting on it with a big vintage Chanel sale event today. The pieces appear to be pulled from the fashion house's '80s and '90s collections and are styled a la Nasty Gal with crop tops, short leather shorts and wedge heels (if anything can make a pastel Chanel tweed two-piece suit sexy, it's a white bralette). The most affordable item of the lot is a black pant for $328 and the most pricey, a quilted leather jacket for $7,200.

Said founder Sophia Amoruso to, "I sold my first Chanel jacket on eBay in 2007. Since then we've continued to carry both non-luxury and luxury items in our vintage category…and today [customers are] still demanding more." You can browse the entire selection right here.
