Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Last year, the CFDA and W Hotels decided to partner up to send CFDA {Fashion Incubator} designers on inspiration-seeking trips around the world. The lucky group numbered nine and included WHIT, Reece Hudson, Jonathan Simkai, Ari Dein, Daniel Vosovic and Timo Weiland. Each selected a dream location (equipped with a W Hotel, of course) and jetted off for a week. Three of the group's talents—Daniel Vosovic, who chose Istanbul; designer Whitney Pozgay of WHIT, who chose Bali; and designer Arielle Shapiro of Ari Dein, who chose St. Petersburg—kindly shared their travel journeys and inspirational photos with Racked.
