Another H&M Site Glitch Screws Eager Shoppers

New, 4 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Though H&M appeared to have restocked its site with Isabel Marant apparel and accessories this morning, we've received several tips that the items shown as "available" are possibly a website glitch:

We called customer service and a rep told us that some items will go to the "cart" even though H&M doesn't have them, and he apologized for the inconvenience.

But apparently the glitch goes further, allowing some customers to purchase items that are not in stock. A Racked tipster forwarded us the following email she received from the company, "We're sorry to inform you that the following item/items you ordered are currently out of stock. [...] Unfortunately this product is sold out and this item has been cancelled. Please visit hm.com if you would like to select a different item."

But not all hope is lost. A Racked editor ordered a sweatshirt by calling customer service yesterday and received notice that it's been shipped. She also ordered a tank this morning from the supposedly restocked site and received confirmation that the order was placed, but has not yet received confirmation that it's been shipped. Best bet at this point, if you've really got your heart set on something, is to call and talk to an actual person. Or avoid the hoopla entirely and shop actual Isabel Marant clothing for a few dollars more.
