Nordstrom has announced that, unlike its competitors, it will not open on Thanksgiving Day (now known as "Gray Thursday"). The department store has traditionally remained closed Thanksgiving Day; staffers have put up signs alerting customers to this news every year for the past 20 years, reports CNN. They read, "We won't be decking our halls until Friday, November 29. Why? We just like the idea of celebrating one holiday at a time."
Commenters point out that some Nordstrom employees will still have to work on Thanksgiving Day to prepare for Black Friday, however they will not be forced to deal with hordes of insane shoppers on their holiday.
