Louis Vuitton has confirmed that Nicolas Ghesquière will succeed Marc Jacobs as the brand's creative director. Rumors of the hire began circulating last month, but the house had refused to confirm them, instead issuing the vague statement, "Nothing has been decided."
Ghesquiére, in much more stilted language than the System interview that got him in hot water, said, "Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration. I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision."
Hopefully this luxury brand won't "suck [him] dry" or try to "homogenize things" like Balenciaga. Either way, the designer probably knows better than to say anything about it now.
