In an effort to be the one department store to rule them all this holiday season, Kmart will open its doors at 6am on Thanksgiving Day and stay open through 11pm on Black Friday. That's right. 41 hours of shopping made possible. The retailer has opened at 6am the past three years, but (a) no one really noticed and (b) this is the first time it isn't closing its doors at all.
Its parent company Sears will, like Macys, Kohl's, JCPenney, etc., open at 8pm Thanksgiving Day, but it will stay open all night through 11pm. The brand babble addressing the decision is delivered by Leena Munjal, VP of customer experience, via Sears statement on the site: "Sears and Kmart have been leaders in integrated retail, delivering convenient options to create a more rewarding shopping experience for our members, while blurring the boundaries between offline and online shopping. Our Shop Your Way members have the option to shop anytime, anywhere and anyway they want—especially during the busiest shopping weekend of the year." Thanks for looking out.
