Downton Abbey costumes are somuchfun to look at but apparently they smell worse than a dead Turkish diplomat between the bedsheets. Get ready for an explanation in unadulterated, adorable British, courtesy of the Daily Mail: "To ensure her outfit looks authentic for the period, there is a 'no wash' policy and, as a result, there can be a rather distinctive pong on set."
Actress Sophie McShera, who plays Daisy, told them, "We do stink, as they don't wash our costumes. They have these weird patches, which are sewn into the armpits and which they wash separately." This really adds a new dimension to the Downton Abbey costume exhibit coming stateside soon.
