Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors have long been affiliated with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, both at Lincoln Center and its home for many years prior, Bryant Park. But rumor has it that the high-profile designers plan to ditch the organization's big tents this season. WWD published the unconfirmed report this morning, stating that, "A spokeswoman for Kors had no comment, and a spokeswoman for DVF couldn't be reached at press time."
Both designers are heavyweights in the industry, and a pullout would not bode well for Lincoln Center. They wouldn't be the first: Designers such as Carolina Herrera have said in so many words that they will be showing offsite despite efforts by IMG Fashion to improve the experience for both participants and attendees. Those changes include cutting guest lists, reducing the cost of venues, redesigning show spaces and running shuttles for weary editors.
