The Perfect Book for Holiday Travel

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Today's pick comes from Racked National associate editor Kenzie Bryant.

The Goldfinch, $15.41 on Amazon

Vogue's review of Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch had me pre-ordering the book off Amazon within an hour of putting down the magazine. But I've been trying to read it veeery, veeery slowly since Tartt's rolling storyline and hypnotic language are perfect to keep me occupied during holiday travels.

Downside one: It's hefty tome and not so fun to lug around. Upside one: Toned biceps and shoulders. Downside two: You won't want to stop reading, so you might accidentally spend less quality time with relatives. Upside two: You won't want to stop reading, so you might accidentally spend less quality time with relatives.
