Fashion People Weigh In On 2013's Most-Stylish Person

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

As the end of the year approaches, we're checking in with our most fashion-savvy friends to hear their thoughts on the best and worst of 2013.

Part of having style is recognizing style and giving hat tips where hat tips are due. So who was the best at getting dressed for 365 days straight? Spoiler alert: No one on our list of contacts said Miley Cyrus.

We're asking: Who was the best-dressed person of 2013?

Erica Cerulo and Claire Mazur, founders of Of a Kind:
Erica: "I think Suri Cruise is the best-dressed person of every year since 2006."
Claire: "Kerry Washington made me care about red carpet fashion in a way I usually don't. "

Laurel Pinson, Stylecaster editor-in-chief: "Red carpet-wise, Kerry Washington pretty much killed it all year, but I thought Naomie Harris gave her a run for her money toward the end of the year when she started her Mandela press tour."

Stephanie Trong, co-editor in chief, Fashionista: "Caroline de Maigret. She always looks so effortless, whether she's dressed up in a Le Smoking-inspired suit or sporting a leather jacket and jeans. I was super excited when Madewell used her in their campaign this year."

Elle Strauss, fashion director of Shopbop: "Kate Moss. Always Kate!"

Andrew Bevan, style features director at Teen Vogue: "I know this may seem biased because she is my friend, I wrote her Teen Vogue cover story and she was my date to the Met gala, but I will take that risk and say Hailee Steinfeld. She always looks fresh and cool without ever looking contrived or like she's trying to hard. Hailee wears the clothes—they never wear her—and most importantly (and enviably) she is able to make high fashion seem relatable. Her stylist Karla Welch helps navigate Hailee through this in-between age of being a teenager in an adult Hollywood world. She always looks age appropriate, never too childish, never too sexy or mature. Styling sixteen year olds at Teen Vogue, I can say with experience that this is a great feat!"

Connie Wang, style director at Refinery29: "My mother."

Laura Kosann, co-founder of The New Potato: "Kerry Washington has been killing it this year! In all ways possible."

Kenzie Bryant, associate editor of Racked: "Eva Chen's wrists and feet were best dressed according to Instagram. "

Leslie Price, editor of Racked: "I don't know if she was best dressed, but Cressida Bonas is fascinating to me. She's landed the ginger prince and she wears scrunchies."
