As the end of the year approaches, we're checking in with our most fashion-savvy friends to hear their thoughts on the best and worst of 2013.
As part of our year-end look back at 2013, we asked our contact list: Did you buy anything from a collaboration in 2013? Surprise, surprise—many invested in Isabel Marant for H&M.
Laurel Pinson, Stylecaster editor-in-chief: "I braved the hordes to shop the Isabel Marant for H&M collection (and wrote about it for StyleCaster), and managed to snag the embellished, printed jacket. It's currently hanging on the back of my office chair the way hunters might mount a prized animal head."
Andrew Bevan, style features director at Teen Vogue: "I bought a giant Isabel Marant for H&M cardigan. I'm cardiganholic and this piece was like Where the Wild Things Are goes to Paris. I love it and I don't care that everyone in NYC has one!"
Connie Wang, style director at Refinery29: "I didn't, actually. It's a horrible condition that comes with obsessively reporting on online collaborations leading up to its drop. By the time it's actually available in stores, I'm over the pieces. Actually—I did buy a Seletti bowl from the Nordstrom pop-up gifting boutique, Bright Lights Gift City, but that's not a straight collaboration."
Erica Cerulo, co-founder of Of a Kind: "Heck, I even ATE something from a collaboration this year: a Karlie's Kookies Perfect 10."
Lisa Held, senior staff writer at Well + Good: "I didn't, but one of my coworkers bought the Phillip Lim for Target sheer-back tank and then gifted it to me when it didn't fit her. It ended up becoming one of my favorite pieces of the year."
Stephanie Trong, co-editor in chief, Fashionista: "Sure did—Isabel Marant for H&M. Although I'm pretty proud of my restraint, I had earmarked the black tuxedo jacket and gray single-breasted blazer from the moment the lookbook came out, and that's what I walked away with. "
Elle Strauss, fashion director of Shopbop: "Heels by Tabitha Simmons x Creatures of the Wind on Shopbop. They're amazing."
Danielle Kosann, co-founder of The New Potato: "A sweatshirt from Isabel Marant x H&M."
Kenzie Bryant, associate editor of Racked: "Nope! Too busy reporting on it."
Leslie Price, editor of Racked: "Like the sheep I am, I bought three pieces from Isabel Marant x H&M. Pro tip for next time: Dial customer service a few minutes before the collab is set to launch online. By the time you get through to a human, it'll have launched and you can order on the call."
