Despite last year's conspiracy-driven controversy, Starbucks has once again teamed up with flash sale site Gilt to offer $450 metal gift cards. In addition to being pre-loaded with $400, these "rose base metal" cards come with automatic enrollment in Gold-level Starbucks membership status, which involves free refills and birthday treats, among other perks.
This year, it almost seems like the two companies are trying to stir the pot a little more by reducing the number of gift cards from 5,000 to 1,000. We'll see tomorrow when they go on sale at noon here, and subsequently on on eBay.
