Forget dazzling blue or Monaco blue or blue, period: the next big color in fashion will be a light shade of purple. That's according to the color experts at Pantone, who forecast that radiant orchid aka lilac will be the hot hue of 2014.
Lilac has a fusty sound about it and isn't the easiest to wear, so it's not surprising that the folks at Pantone tried to amp up the color with a snazzier name. Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone exec, describes the choice as, "an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones...it is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm." Watch her try to sell it here on Bloomberg.
