Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Scott Sternberg, the cookie-loving designer behind Band of Outsiders, told WWD he was inspired by a combination of Billie Holiday and Atari for his Fall 2013 women's line: Holiday for the silhouettes, Atari for the collection's dot-matrixy graphics.

The wackadoodle hats all the models were wearing also owe their origins to Billie Holiday. According to Vogue, they are a modern mashup of the baseball cap and the turban, a nod to the singer's favorite head gear. See it all after the jump.
