Although we've often heard Nanette Lepore fans metaphorically praise her clothing as "out of this world," thanks to her Fall 2013 collection, that description has now become literal. The show was inspired by outer space, specifically, pictures taken from the the Mars Rover. This manifested itself in a collection with a darker pallet than she usually shows—lots of blacks and olives, no neons here. Many of Lepore's fabrics had a futuristic feel, including specially coated wools that looked like leather, prints created from pictures of the earth, and luminescent leathers for bags and shoes. The designs themselves, however, were very earthbound and wearable. Lepore showed striking (yet work-appropriate) suits and coats, plus tops and dresses with sexy yet tasteful cut- aways. Take a look after the jump.
