Aside from Jane Fonda's canary yellow Versace (custom-made, according to her stylist) and Anne Hathaway's light pink Prada (she said the dress was a decision she made mere hours ago), there weren't too many surprises on this year's Oscar red carpet. The closest we came to an Angelina Jolie leg moment was Jennifer Lawrence's choice to wear her necklace draped down the back, rather than the front, of her Dior Haute Couture gown.
That's not to say that the outfits weren't memorable, just that everyone played it pretty safe. Full-skirted and strapless or body-conscious fishtale were the silhouettes of the evening, and pale pastels, shimmery metallics and basic black were popular.
