It's no question that acclaimed fashion photographer Nigel Barker knows a thing or two when it comes to modeling. But what about in the modern age, where people who are struggling to up their social media game often resort to self-taken photos, or "selfies," in bathroom mirrors across the world? Well, he's got an answer for that too.

At last night's premiere party for Oxygen's new modeling competition The Face, of which he is host, our friends at StyleCaster asked him for his tips on how to take a perfect selfie. After the jump, find out how to revolutionize your Instagram feed (and completely annoy your followers).

"The best pictures of anybody show when their true personality comes through, " he said. If someone's looking at a picture and they're like, 'You know what? That's you!' then that's a successful selfie. If you take a picture, and you're over-glamorized, or your friends don't like you in it, but you think you look good in it—that's a failure in my opinion."

There you have it. Get out the kissy face, stick out your tongue, even whip out your animal print onesie—it's totally fine and comes highly recommended.
