Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Zac Posen is showing up in the news for his extra curricular activities more often these days thanks to his new role as judge on Project Runway and offering his gowns to The Face. But now he's getting back to his roots with a contemporary line of "dressed-up looks" for a price point within a stones throw of $500. We give you Zac Zac Posen by Zac Posen.

Unlike the flagging Z Spoke line, once sold at Saks, now racked up at Lord & Taylor, the Zac Zac Posen wasn't constrained by the under-$200 price point. The designer told WWD, "In building into such strict price requirements for Z Spoke, we started to learn that with a slightly higher price point, you can get a lot more out of the product. You can get a level of fabric quality that's a lot nicer, and it enables it to expand into evening." In other word, Zac wants you to spend money on your clothes, fools. How much money? $690 for cocktail and $1,690 for gowns. Thank goodness Heidi Klum offered him a season's worth of free advertising. Look for the collection when pre-fall hits stores at Neiman Marcus, Saks, Intermix, Scoop, and Harvey Nichols.
