Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
For Fall 2013, BCBGMAXAZRIA found inspiration in the historic architecture of Istanbul while, at the same time, following the exotic style of the Turkish gypsy. The resulting collection is "much more hippie-feeling, freedom-feeling, much more of a mélange of different types together," designer Max Azria told us backstage.
Cue the beanie clad, maxi-skirted models. Maroon, deep blue, black, and white were applied to laser-cut leather pieces, embroidered dresses, and patterned fur coats. "It was amazing! I loved the mixed textiles, the leather mixed with fur, the unexpected colorblocking," Alexa Ray Joel cooed after the show. Hopefully she has some finger cymbals handy to really take it to the next level. For a peek, click after the jump.
