London Fog has tapped Chris Benz along with Cynthia Rowley and Badgley Mischka to create a capsule collection of chic rain gear spanning everything from boots to umbrellas. Benz, who's one of several designers taking a breather from New York Fashion week, explained how time off has allowed the business some reflection time:
While everyone else is busy with the shows, we're getting started on spring 2014. It's been really great to be able to reflect a little bit creatively and to think about where your business is going. There is something to be said for having an 'Eat Pray Love' kind of moment. We've been asking ourselves, 'What do we really love about the brand? Where is the company going?'Apparently part of the answer is that the company is going to transpose the Chris Benz aesthetic onto a water repellent capsule. Coming in August to specialty and department stores, as well as the outerwear brand's Web site and each designer's respective sites, the collections will range in price from $50 for an umbrella to $275 for outerwear.
