Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you're going to head up a directional brand like Balenciaga, you need to show that you can think outside the box. And boy, is Alexander Wang thinking outside the box for Fall 2013. Wang showed all kinds of inventive looks today at the presentation for his fall 2013 line. Among them: fur boxing gloves, cozy snoods complete with ponytail windows, box-pleated fur skirts, fur trousers, sweater shoes, and a pant-skirt hybrid garment we're going to go ahead and call a spant.

The critical reaction was unanimously adoring. Christina Binkley of the Wall Street Journal tweeted, "Look at those shoulders and volume in the back: Alexander Wang has been studying Cristobal Balenciaga!" Or as Jane Larkworthy of W magazine simply put it, "Yup, he's ready for Balenciaga."
