Many talented designers have been featured on Project Runway, but very few have had such distinctive styles that you could take one look at their work and know immediately who created it. Kenley Collins is one of those rare designers. Featured on both Season Five and the first All Stars season, Kenley became known for colorful retro creations that screamed bold femininity. Betty Page would have loved her.
On May 1st Unique Vintage, an online boutique and label out of California, will be debuting an exclusive collaboration with Kenley—a colorful crop top with matching swing skirt. The set will retail for $136. We spoke to Kenley about her design:
I wanted to do something which was on trend but was very pin-up. It's straight out of the great American pin up book with all the Vargas girls with the matching two piece sets...But I also wanted to do something that was variable, not a straight pin-up outfit. And I wanted to show a little bit of skin.
Collins, who also does her own higher priced line, has recently been dressing Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande in similar retro two piece sets.
