CFDA and eBay Battle 'Fake Fashion' With 90 Designer Handbags

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

For the third year running, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and eBay have wrangled 90 or so designers to contribute to the You Can't Fake Fashion campaign. For the uninitiated, it works like this: big name and buzzy designers—from Diane von Furstenberg to Prabal Gurung to Alice+Olivia—create an original design based on a stock tote. The one-off embellished bags will be available at auction starting at $100, while the non-designer, standard totes will have the "buy it now" price of $50. Take a gander at 12 of our favorites, and spot the full range on eBay come Monday, March 18, at 9am PT.
