The Mascara That Will Break Your Drugstore Habit

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Today's pick comes from Racked New York associate editor Nicola Fumo.

They're Real Mascara, $23 at Benefit.com
Confession: I'm still using the trial tube of this miracle mascara, but I fully intend to purchase the full size. When I do finally unzip my wallet for Benefit's They're Real Mascara it will mark my first long-term deviation from drugstore mascara, ever. It's not that I haven't tried out luxe mascaras before this—they just never seemed to make too much of a difference. The combination of this brush and the formula finally made that difference. I saw the definition and added length in the first swipe that would take my old drugstore standby a few coats. Layer it on and you get incredible lashes that don't get too Liza, stay flexible all day, and never smudge. I'm sold.
