Christopher Finazzo, the former chief merchandising officer at Aéropostale Inc., has been charged on "14 counts of mail fraud, one count of wire fraud, and one count of conspiracy," according to WWD.
Each count has to do with a multimillion dollar kickback scheme involving South Bay Apparel, one of the retailer's vendors, in which Finazzo and his co-conspirator, Douglas Dey, the owner of South Bay each took 25 percent of the profits South Bay received from orders from Aéropostale. Finazzo received about $25 million for his share. That's pretty heavy for our favorite tweenage mall destination for casual basics.
