Style Like U Launches Body-Issues Themed Month

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Personal style blog Style Like U has just kicked off a month-long body issues initiative. For those unfamiliar, Style Like U is one of the more inspiring fashion sites out there. Sort of the anti-street-style blog, mom daughter team Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandlebaum created the site as a reaction to what they saw as a sameness and lack of creativity in the fashion industry, and their lush videos profile a cool mix of people from different ages, races, and body type.

Starting now, they'll be rolling out a month's worth of special features, including an interview with model Erin O'Conner in which she discusses the criticism she received from the fashion industry, a personal essay from Lily Mandlebaum about her struggles with her own body, and a Body Image Roundtable discussion with Eve, Cory Kennedy, Model Alliance founder Sara Ziff, and Nicolette Mason. Watch the video above to meet Elisa and Lily and hear more about it.
