No, it's not an issue dedicated to metal music–although that would have been interesting–Visionaire's latest is made out of metal. Giant sheets of an aluminum-stainless steel alloy, to be precise. Magazine founder Cecilia Dean says they wanted the issue to be iconic, "indestructible, and recyclable."
Which leads us to imagine what archaeologists of the distant future might make of a set of giant metal plates embossed with Kate Moss's face.
Dean tells Fashionista:
Karl Lagerfeld gave us a beautiful image of a male nude, and when he gave it to us it was very classical: classical photography of a male nude. But then after we worked with CGI artists to make it into a 3D rendering and then we pounded it into metal, it looks like Terminator! [laughs] It's totally sci-fi terminator, and I think that's really interesting.
But, seriously: metal and fashion, what an opportunity! We want to see a spread of models posing with the members of Black Sabbath and designers sharing their favorite heavy metal playlists next. Maybe Jason Wu is really into Iron Maiden? Someone has to make this happen. — Jenna Sauers
