Christy Turlington Is the Face of Calvin Klein Underwear (Again)

Twenty-five years after her first Calvin Klein campaign, Christy Turlington-Burns is again the face of the iconic brand. The original supermodel is taking over the Calvin Klein Underwear duties from Lara Stone while the latter recovers from her pregnancy. (Stone and husband David Walliams had their first child, a son, earlier this month; a model actually going on maternity leave, in this age of Victoria's Secret stars timing their pregnancies around shows, is kind of a novel concept.)

Turlington first walked for the brand in 1987. Her first Calvin Klein campaign was shot by none other than Irving Penn in 1988. Since then, she was the longtime face of the brand's Eternity and Contradiction perfumes, of Calvin Klein Underwear, Calvin Klein Jeans, and Swimwear. She held a contract with the brand from 1988-2007. She's also a 44-year-old mother of two. Who's going to be on billboards in her underwear again.

In 1998, when she was a junior at N.Y.U., Turlington told New York magazine that it was "weird" being so known as a Calvin Klein underwear model:

Certainly, when I go to school in the morning and there's ten buses that go by with Calvin Klein underwear ads, it's weird.

Her new fall campaign was shot by Mario Sorrenti in Puerto Rico. No final images are available yet, just this behind-the-scenes shot. So let's reminisce instead with this, a 1996 Calvin Klein underwear ad in which Turlington stars:
