The Curse of The Bling Ring has struck once more, and again it has nothing to do with Emma Watson or Sofia Coppola.
The second jewelry heist at Cannes sounds even more like a movie: The de Grisogono high jewelry necklace above, which is worth 2 million euros (around $2.6 million at current exchange rates), was stolen during the house's 20th anniversary party at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes on Tuesday night. Those in attendance included Paris Hilton, Sharon Stone, Chris Tucker, and Stacy Keibler, among about 700 other suspects guests. Below find what the heisters were up against.
In a press release, the company said, "Regrettably, after the night's festivities ended, de Grisogono staff members discovered that a high jewelery necklace, part of the launched collection, was stolen despite the large security measures set in place: over 80 security guards plus the police. A police report has been filed and further investigation is under way by local law enforcement." And de Grisogono founder and creative director Fawaz Gruosi added, "These incidents are rare; it is actually the first time it has happened in our 20-year history. However, when they occur one must be proactive and collaborate with the authorities."
