Topshop Unique's First Pre-Fall Range Is a Minimal Must-Shop

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Fashion critics have oh-ed and ah-ed over Topshop Unique's just-trendy-enough collections for 24 seasons now, and finally the contemporary answer to the fast-fashion label is launching pre-fall (in the gallery above) and resort (coming this fall). The inaugural pre-fall collection takes inspiration from the spring 2013 line, which means the slinky, black-and-white minimalism carries over, but with added fuchsia and canary yellow pieces. Topshop's fashion director, Emma Widen, told Vogue UK, "The range is built on simple tailored separates in beautiful silks and broderies, giving customers the choice to either dress up or dress down individual pieces."

All told, the pre-fall range offers 21 eveningwear separates and accessories, including georgette silk dresses ($550), organza tops ($200) and dresses ($400), silk blouses (about $230) and camis ($120), and a silk overlay blazer ($500). Shop the pre-fall collection today and look for resort in September.
