Coach is shopping around for a new creative director to succeed Reed Krakoff, and because Marc Jacobs' name was included on the brand's "dream list" of possible candidates, industry folks are wondering whether this signifies that the designer is leaving Louis Vuitton or an IPO is in the works for the brand. No rumors have been confirmed or commented on, but in WWD's words, the dream list is "igniting a whirlwind of speculation."
Other names that Coach is reportedly dreaming about include former Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière (who's no stranger to the job-related rumor mill), Chloé's creative director Clare Waight Keller, Derek Lam, and Phillip Lim. Perhaps more noteworthy, the list leaked on the same day that Emma Hill, former creative director at Mulberry, announced she was quitting her day job. Stay tuned for more luxury-themed musical chairs.
