Meet Tuna, the funny-looking dog that has more Instagram followers than the Man Repeller, and one of the most inspiring stories on the internet, to boot.

Courtney Dasher adopted Tuna, a "chiweenie" (Chihuahua- Dachshund mix) with a pronounced overbite, back in 2011, and almost immediately began Instagramming daily photos of her dog. Two and half years later, the Tuna Melts My Heart Instagram account has more than 375,000 followers, has inspired numerous works of fan art, and recently launched a fully stocked web shop.

In Dasher's words, it's precisely Tuna's funny looks that make him so special:

"He is a dog that most people wouldn't want because the general public would deem him to be unattractive. He has funny teeth that stick out, moles around his mouth, a crumpled chin and a neck that looks like it's been soaking in a bathtub for days! I believe that he was discarded by his original owner because of his irregularities. I don't think that they saw the beauty in him, so as a result, he was rejected. Fortunately for him (and me), his rescuer saw his potential and gave him a second chance at living," she told Darling magazine.

His fans agree. Though Dascher originally intended to offer the Tuna iPhone case in the iPhone 5 version, Tuna fans were so vocal that she ultimately added the iPhone 4/4S to the shop. The cases shown above go for $26, while the "Tuna Melts My Heart" logo versions go for $24.

Dascher has also created Tuna tees, tank tops, mugs, and dog shirts (hello, Father's Day). According to the shop page, a portion of the proceeds goes to the private rescuer who originally rescued Tuna and the APSCA.
