Kelsy Parkhouse of Carleen Doesn't Let Stress Derail Her

New, 1 comment

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Kelsy Parkhouse graduated from Pratt last year. In that time, her label Carleen has caught the eye of style bloggers (Natalie Joos wore a Carleen dress to Paris Fashion Week), fashion critics (like Cathy Horyn of the New York Times) and buyers (she was already picked up at Bird in Brooklyn).

The busy designer took time away from her two jobs—she still works full-time in production in NYC's garment district—to talk to Racked in her studio/apartment about being a young designer, the importance of comfort, and how she uses stress as motivation.
