Welcome to Party Bites, a new Racked series where fancy people at glamourous parties answer our probing questions.
The stars were aligned for Orla Kiely yesterday when Kate Middleton's mom wore one of the designer's dresses to visit Kate and tiny Prince George in the hospital on the very same day of Kiely's Target collaboration launch party. And as we found out, the woman can throw a party. Alexa Chung and Tennessee Thomas manned their posts as the official DJs, but Chung also took a moment to turn the tables on us. She grabbed the recorder and, in her best newscaster voice, shared her thoughts on all the royal baby craziness: "America has an obsession with the royal baby in a way that I don't." (Who, us? We were totally normal about it.)
Because we weren't quite ready to let our royal baby fever subside just yet (sorry, Alexa), we asked party guests what they would wear to visit Kate Middleton in the hospital. We bet you can guess which guests are American by their answers.—Erika Graham
