Welcome to the latest edition of Working It, where Racked takes street style to the next level—the office. The litmus test of the true style-savvy is how she (or he) rocks a look on any old day to work. Forget the pedestrian khakis and buttondowns—these fashionable professionals take the office dress code to a whole other dimension. Quick, somebody call HR!
Today we bring you to the Manhattan offices of Soludos, a company that is bringing the essence of summer to city dressing, one pair of—stylish and comfy—espadrilles at a time. Unsurprisingly, the laid-back vibe and sunny disposition of the team there perfectly matches the fun-loving footwear they design. Here's how they work it when they're working.
Carolyn Beinfeld, Senior Account Executive: My style is casual. I love the fact that at Soludos I can wear jeans and a big sweater in the winter and a simple sun dress in the summer. I'll try and stay in style with a fresh new pair of Soludos or a funky pair of boots.
Style Advice: You always look best when you feel comfortable and confident in your clothes. I love wearing simple casual items and dressing them up with fun accessories.
Carolyn is wearing a Zara top, Rag and Bone jeans, and her favorite Soludos Sandals that the Soludos designer, Sole, gave her (they didn't end up making it into the collection, so they are literally one of a kind).
Steve Slykhuis, Logistics Manager: I like to mix a few trend pieces into my wardrobe every season. A pop of color is always fun. I also have my go to pieces. I wear what I feel comfortable in and don't try to force a look. Some days it's jeans and a t-shirt, others it's a button down, khakis, and a blazer with a bow tie.
Style Advice: Getting ready shouldn't be a chore. Don't think of it as what should I wear today, but what do I get to wear today. Love your clothes and wear what makes you feel good.
Steve is wearing a Michael Bastian for Uniqlo polo, G Star Raw jeans, Soludos Espadrilles, and a Timex Weekender Watch.
Caroline Savitt, Junior Account Executive: My style is definitely eclectic with a daring edge. Growing up I was lucky enough to "shop" in my mother's closet; taking core pieces and building my own style by adding edgy separates and fashion accessories. While I have my fair share of celebrity fashion crushes, I get most of my inspiration from cool girls I see on the train.
Style Advice: Mix it up. I used to wear a whole lot of black before Soludos came into my life. Now I'm enjoying Summer colors all year long.
Caroline is wearing a BCBGMAXAZRIA top, French Connection skirt, shoes by Soludos, and David Yurman jewelry.
Janelle Sing, Designer: Most of what I wear is some version of boy's clothing for girls—today I'd call it grandfather chic.
Style Advice: Large coats and good shoes fix everything!
Janelle is wearing an Armor-Lux coat, Anthropologie jeans, Coclico shoes, a 1950's Omega Seamaster watch, and a Matt Singer bracelet.
Robert Wright, Marketing Director: My personal style is eclectic. I like combining new and old, high and low. It often feels beachy, since that's usually where I'm pretending I am. I like to start with the perfect basics (jeans, tees and solid button downs in navy, white and grey) and add in fun colors and accessories, especially tortoiseshell sunglasses. I'm casual most of the time, but still love to get dressed up unexpectedly.
Style Advice: When the fit's not right, clothes won't look good no matter the quality. Make sure what you're wearing feels like you. If it does, you can pull it off.
Robert is wearing a Steven Alan shirt, Acne jeans, Soludos shoes, an Hermes watch, and Crasqi bracelets.
Sole Arias, Senior Designer: Being a shoes and bag designer has made me an accessories prioritizer—so, in my case, my clothes are complementing my mood and the look I'm going for. I come from a super artistic family so I've always been inclined to color, prints, and a strong point of view. My style is funky and eclectic. I guess it's also a mix between a bohemian and a hipster, therefore (FINE!), I'm a funtic hippstie.
Style Advice: Accessories!!! With these guys, it really comes down to how you're feeling and what you want to transmit that day. You can turn a simple outfit into the coolest look with the right necklace, shoes, and lipstick.
Sole is wearing a Delfina Balda dress, a vintage blazer, indie designer shoes from Argentina, a Celia Basa necklace, and rings by Belgiorno and Lori Bonn.
Nick Brown, Founder: I think my style is laid back, for the most part I'm a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy.
Style Advice: Keep it simple and classic. I think style is so reflective of an individual's personality, so one should let this shine through.
Nick is wearing a J.Crew tee, beaded belt from Argentina, RRL jeans, and Soludos espadrilles.
