Not content with their current spread of more 11 stores within an 8 mile stretch in Manhattan, H&M has two enormous flagship stores in the works for New York's midtown. The steroidal outposts will be planted in Herald Square, where H&M's four-level, 63,000-square-foot biggest store ever will stare across at the Macy's flagship, and in Times Square, where the fast-fashion chain will plant a 42,500-square-foot shop later this year.
The Herald Square megaplex will open in fall 2014. What's crazy about the store, aside from its sheer scale, is that there are two other H&Ms in the neighborhood. As the pres of H&M North America crowed, "With close to 300 stores across the country as well our new Shop Online, the H&M anchor store at this historic intersection will be one of our greatest accomplishments to date."
