Taiwan's EVA Air is trying to make flying through LAX less torturous and more cute. How? The everlasting charm of Hello Kitty, of course. The airline is working on a specially-branded 312-seat Hello Kitty Around the World jet, which will make its inaugural US voyage to the West Coast on September 18th. EVA Air has a small fleet of the jets in Asia. The Happy Music Time Hello Kitty jet goes roundrip from Taipei to Sapporo, the Hello Kitty Speed Puff hops between Taipei and Hong Kong, and the Hello Kitty Loves Apples plane travels from Taipei to Seoul.
The Hello Kitty plane that will touch US ground will be flying the Taoyuan to Los Angeles route three times per week, reports Business Traveler. It is a B777, currently the world's largest twin-jet plane. In addition to branding the exterior of the airline, they are going full-on kawaii inside.
Per CNN, Hello Kitty commuters will rest their heads on Hello Kitty fabric covers. They'll dine with Hello Kitty utensils and blow their noses on Hello Kitty tissues. Flight attendants will wear Hello Kitty aprons; bathrooms will feature Hello Kitty products. You'll even board the aircraft through a Hello Kitty gate and if you get sick, you can use a Hello Kitty barf bag. The branding will touch every single aspect of your flight.
After the US, EVA Air will turn its sights to Europe.
