In 29 years as an award-winning fashion designer, Marc Jacobs has successfully launched clothing, accessory and fragrance lines, been named the artistic director at Louis Vuitton and even somewhat successfully inspired a male skirt-wearing moment. Now the designer's namesake cosmetics line hopes to redefine beauty as "imperfectly perfect" with this morning's launch of Marc Jacobs Beauty. What is special about a cosmetics line to Marc Jacobs? "I see beauty in many things and I am attracted to all sorts of imperfection, to style, to confidence or experimentation," he said in a statement. "It's unexpected and surprises you."

The products in Marc Jacobs Beauty range in price from $18 to $78. The collection includes coverage for your face in the form of foundations, a concealer, eyeliners, eyeshadow palettes, blushes, lip products (balm, gloss, and gel), brow gel, and bronzer. For the rest of your beauty needs, there's a body bronzer, four makeup brushes, and 24 shiny nail lacquer shades.

The chic look of the 120-piece collection, with its ultra-shiny packaging and curved edges (which took Sephora execs three months to execute), speaks to the attention taken in the design of the line. Of course, it's what's on the inside that counts, and the collection touts the use of several innovative formulas. A few highlights include the Genius Gel foundation with Buoyancy-technology which is said to create a cushion-like texture on the skin, the Lash Lifter mascara with E-Lash Tic Lash Technology that "works like spandex to lift lashes" and the Lust for Lacquer lip gloss which is infused with Champagne-grapes. Keeping in line with Jacobs' affinity for rule-breaking, the line is also offering Boy Tested, Girl Approved unisex products, like the Brow Tamer grooming gel, cooling and soothing Remedy concealer, and mint-flavored Lip Lock balm.
