Above in the shorts is Scott Mackintosh, a Utah dad just trying to make sense of the topsy-turvy world of teen fashion. The reason he's in the shorts: His college-aged daughter refused to change out of her short-shorts. His goal: To sear into her brain a mental image of "modest is hottest." His means: Very short jorts crafted from a pair of old jeans.
According to a post on his wife's Tumblr, Mackintosh cut the denim himself and wore them on a family fun night out on the town. His daughter, who he was trying to shame by flaunting his legs (which aren't bad, we'll admit with mild discomfort), feigned non-embarrassment until they arrived at a milkshake place. It's always the milkshake place that breaks 'em! He explains:
I know the world has varying degrees of what is modest and what is not when it comes to clothing. In our family we have pretty definite modesty guidelines; No mid-drift or low-cut shirts, no short-shorts, short skirts and we even go as far as saying no sleeveless shirts unless playing sports or on the beach. Having raised four daughters and three sons, I'm a bit protective. Some may call me old fashioned, but I call it "A Dad who loves his daughters" (and sons too).Anywho, the pictures have gotten a lot of attention, and everyone over the age of 18 agrees that the crazy cut-off short trend is just the worst.
